Henry Sauntson

Hello, my name is Henry Sauntson; I am a Secondary English teacher, Professional Tutor and SCITT Leadership member based in the East Midlands, UK.

I have been teaching for nearly 15 years now and during that time have had experience of roles in Department leadership, Senior Leadership (Teaching & Learning, Professional Development) and Pastoral leadership.

I am an SLE for my local Teaching School and a Senior Subject Lead for their SCITT. I was recently privileged and honoured to be accepted as a Fellow of the Chartered College of Teaching and for a Fellowship with CollectiveED.

As well as practising my trade in the classroom I love to help teach others, from pre-service upwards – I facilitate face-to-face days for NPQ qualifications and also organize and host a range of evidence-informed Professional Learning sessions for colleagues in my Teaching School Alliance. I am married and have 3 young children, all of whom I am sure will test me to rein in my ‘teacher persona’ at their respective Parents’ Evenings in the future! I must resist the urge to make too many comments…

When not teaching and not trying to be the best dad I can be I love to read and write about education – putting evidence and research into practice and looking for what works – and also to indulge in those finer things of life: red wine, gin, golf and cricket (although I can’t play the latter anymore!).

I struggle to combine them all at the same time though!

I’m a lover of drama too, and often can be found quoting Shakespeare at students, mainly for own amusement.
